The BBQ Apprentice

Here at the Rusted Silo, we like to do things just a little bit different, our passion for southern barbecue goes a lot deeper than just smoking meat, to really enjoy southern barbecue there’s a certain amount of tradition and a whole lot of love that go into preparing and serving it. Southern hospitality is a huge part of it as well, that’s why Rusted Silo is seeking a Pitmaster apprentice. Someone who wants to really learn about smoking meats, preparing all sorts of southern delicacies, as well as learning what it takes to be a Pitmaster and even a little bit about being a chef and running a BBQ Restaurant. Pitmaster, Chef, and Owner Rob Ecker wants to meet the best and the brightest of those that have a desire to call themselves a Pitmaster one day.

In this BBQ apprenticeship you will work hand-in-hand with three-time award-winning best barbecue in Indianapolis Pitmaster Rob Ecker, learning the ins and outs of preparing, smoking, and serving Indianapolis’s Best BBQ, as well as what it takes to operate a successful BBQ/Culinary Operation.

This is a paid position (Real Full Time Job + Apprenticeship) for someone who is dedicated to learning the craft, not just showing up for a paycheck. Pay is based on experience, but passion and drive will get you hired! This position is located in Lizton, Indiana just a short drive outside of Indianapolis heading west.

No experience necessary to those with excellent potential. This is the ultimate learning role as well as opportunity to help us grow which can expand into a long-term sous chef / Pitmaster position, or other lucrative futures.
